U.S. Copyright Office Increases Filing Fees


The U.S. Copyright Office has announced a fee increase for registration and recordation services and certain other services.The fee increase became effective on August 1, 2009.
Under the new fee schedule, the fee for electronic filing (online registration) of a basic copyright application is unchanged.The fee remains at $35.The fee for paper filing (paper registration) is for a basic copyright application has been increased from $45 to $50.
The fee for paper filing (paper registration) of a basic copyright application for performing arts works, sound recordings, literary work, visual arts works, or single serial issues is increased from $45 to $65.
