A jury trial was set for the copyright Infringement lawsuit, Skidmore, et al v. Led Zeppelin, et al., No. 2:14-cv-03089 (E.D. Pa., May 31, 2014), alleging that the band stole the guitar line and melody from the song “Taurus” written by Randy Craig Wolfe and used it in the song “Stairway to Heaven.” You can find more information in Part Iand Part II of this article.
The trial that was set for May 10, 2016 but Los Angeles U.S. District Judge R. Gary Klausner has postponed the start date until June 14, 2016. Judge Klausner had ruled that the trustee of Randy Wolfe had shown enough evidence to support the case.
Klausner has removed Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones from the suit along with a couple of publishers. That leaves Robert Plant and Jimmy page as the leading defendants in the case. They have been deposed separately over the last few months as part of pretrial discovery in the case, new filings in Lost Angeles federal court show.
As for now we wait until next month to see what transpires.
